For a period of time recently, ACEG Pakistani Branch staff members working for the project – Afghan Embassy in Pakistan, have worked overtime and overcome difficulties and tried to get closer to achieving their production targets.
In order to solve the problems of insufficient labor forces and differences in construction specifications and standards, the Project has vigorously promoted local contents in three aspects - labor localization; management localization and system localization and the work efficiency has been greatly improved as a result.
The Project has given full play to local labor advantages and employed a large number of skilled Pakistani workers and reduced the proportion of Chinese labors accordingly and hence the labor costs reduced. At present, the Project employs about 60 local workers, accounting for more than 80% of the total, among them, the steel reinforcing workers are all Pakistani workers. All the steel bar reinforcing works are all completed independently by the Pakistani workers.
Management localization plays key roles in the implementation of the Project for that American standards are adopted for the construction of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Pakistan and a large number of local workmen on the project site, and therefore the Project has recruited local engineers and technicians as well as management staff with rich experiences and gives full play to their advantages in language, culture, social relations and technologies.
At present, there are 9 Chinese and 10 Pakistani managing staff working for the civil engineering and installation of the Project and that the local engineers and technicians are accounting for more than 50%.
The Project has so far established and improved localized employee management system in combination with Pakistani labor law system and social culture, adopting double wage calculation method - equal pay for equal work and more work for more pay, which has stimulated the workers’ enthusiasm and encouraged them to improve their working efficiency. And the Project Manager has also strengthened humanistic cares for the local employees, he would for sure to visit the sick and hospitalized employees and participate in the employees’ wedding ceremonies and improve the welfare for the local employees, so that the local employees have enhanced their sense of belonging of the enterprise.
Localization building has created favorable conditions for the sustainable and healthy development of ACEG Pakistan Branch in the local market and the economic and social benefits and corporate brand image have all been boosted and localization building will be strengthened with the progress of the Project.
